Tone


1. What is the author's attitude towards actions or events?
The author's attitudes are from the story. It's toward the actions and events of the story. He didn't put this own opinion and how he thinks.

2. Is the story humorous or tragic of frightening? Does the author want you to laugh or cry, to feel happy or sad, to experience anger or fear?
Not at all, this story is not an emotional story. Mostly, this story gives us lessons and morals. It's kind of morals story.

3. What is the author's attitude toward characters or the narrator? Does the author like or dislike, trust or mistrust the characters or the narrator?
In this story, the author doesn't show much attitude toward the story, or even the characters. So it is hard to tell that the author like or dislike the characters or the narrator or not. But the character in the story is a good character, so the author might like the character and narrator.

Symbolism

1. What are some of the symbols in the story?                                                                                    

The symbol of this story is the responsibility of a man. How he manages and thinks.

2. Are there any objects which seem to have a symbolic meaning? What are their meanings? What are their meanings?  Yes, The title of the story, tells us how story goes and means. It also gives a us clue and how responsible of a man in this story.

3. Do any people act as symbols in the story? What do they represent? 

Yes, the character acts as the symbol in this story.

4. Do aspects of the story’s setting seem symbolic? In what way? 

It represents how one the title, one thousand dollars means  on Gillian's side. And how did he gained his money.

The symbol doesn't change throughout the story.

Imagery

1. What scenes, moments, descriptive passages, phrases, or words stands out in your reading of the story?
  The most stands out moment is when Gillian lost his money.
 
2. Did a particular image make you feel happy,or frightened, or disturbed, or angry? Why?
Not at all, The story is not giving much emotional feeling to the reader.
 
3. Which of your five senses did this image appeal to? What do you associate with this image, and why? What do you think the author wants you to feel about a certain image?
I think I can feel how the character feels and naturally thinking with the story. And I think the author wants us to feel about this image too.

4. How do you think your reactions to the imagery in the story contribute to the overall meaning of the story?
It gives us how to think and what to do if we are in that situation.

Point of view

1. What point of view does the story use? Is the story told from a first-person perspective, in which the narrator is one of the character in the story, and refers to himself or herself as "I"? Or is the story told from a third-person perspective, in which the narrator is not one of the characters in the story or may not participate in the events of the story?

By chosen point of view, the author can use an objective of the story. It doesn't furnish any clues in the story at all.

The narrator is reliable because the narrator use all the characters equally . The narrator know about what and how the characters think.

He never unfairly withhold important information known to the focal character. And the author use his point of view reveal from the story.

Character questionnaires

1. Who is/are the main character in the story? What does the main character look like?
Gillian is the man who receives money from his uncle.

2. Describe the main character's situation. Where does he/she live? Does he/she live alone or with others? What does the main character do for a living, or is he/she dependent on others for support?
The story does not tell where Gillian lives. I think he might live with his uncle.

3. What are some chief characteristics (personally traits) of the character? How are these characteristics revealed in the story? How does the main character interact with other character? Note the degree of complexity of his/her behavior, thought, and feeling; their appearances, their habits, mannerisms, speech, attitudes and values. What is the main character's attitude towards his/her life? Is he/she happy or sad, content or discontented? Why?
Gillian asks for an advice from his friends. He doesn't belief in himself. But Gillian is happy with his life even before he got one thousand dollars.

4. What sort of conflict is the character facing? How is this conflict revealed? Is it resolved? If so, how?
Gillian must use one thousand dollars properly and know how to manage his money. If he doesn't manage it well, I would lost the rest of his money.

5. Is any character a developing character? If so, is his change a large or a small one? Is it a plausible change for him? Is he sufficiently motivated? Is the change given sufficient time?
He changes himself from a man with no responsibility to a man who has to manage his own money and to be responsible with his money.

Plot

1.What is the story about? What are the main events in the story and how are they related to each other?
It is a story of a young man who is very spoiled, he lives his life in gambling. His uncle has 51,000 dollars for him. he just knows about 1,000 dollars from his uncle. his uncle decides to test him, if he spend it responsibly, he will receive the other 50000 dollars.

2.Are the main events of the story arranged chronologically, or are they arranged in another way?
Yes, They arranged it chronologically. By time and actions.

3.How is the story narrater? Are flashbacks, summaries, stories within the story used?
The story narrated are the story within the story.

4.Is the plot fast-paced or slow-paced?
This story is a fast-paced story. cause it has many actions happening and the story is unexpectable.

5. How do the thoughts, behaviors,and actions of characters move the plot forward?
The story makes the readers think forward through the story because it is an exciting story and unpredictable.

6.What are the conflicts in the plot? Are they physical, intellectual, moral or emotional? Are they resolved? How are they resolved? Is the main conflict between good and evil sharply differentiated, or is it more subtle and complex?
It is a bit moral, but at last can be resolved. It is more complex that about conflict, this story has no conflict between people. 

7.What is the climax of the story and at what point in the story does climax occur?It the ending of the story happy, unhappy, or indeterminate? Is it fairly achieved?
Climax of this story is when the boy save his money and spend it carefully, then his uncle accepts him and give him the rest of his money, which is make the reader feel happy.

8.Does the plot have unity? Are all the episodes relevant to the total meaning or effect of the story? Does each incident grow logically out of the preceding incident and lead natural to the next?
In this story, The plot is unity and easily to understand. But there is still little unpredictable moment happens in the story.

9.What use does the story make of chance and coincidence? Are these occurrences used to initiate, to complicate, or to resolve the story? How improbable are they?
The ending is unlike what the reader expected at the beginning of a story. At first, I thought he will not use his money carefully and responsibly. But at the end, It changes, He used his money well and he get what his uncle wants to give him.
